St Gemma's Hospice

2018 marked the 40th anniversary of St Gemma’s Hospice. We are proud to have been caring for people in Leeds for over 40 years, in the Hospice itself and in people’s homes.

Throughout the year we reflected on our history, while looking to the future of our care and thanking you all for your support that makes it possible. This is an important time for us to come together and remember all those we’ve cared for, making sure we can continue caring for years to come.

St Gemma’s Hospice is the largest hospice in Yorkshire and one of the biggest in England. Every year, we rely on the generosity of you, our community of supporters, to keep our services running.

Providing care, compassion and dignity to local people for 40 years.

2018 marks forty years since the Sisters of the Cross and Passion founded St Gemma’s Hospice. Since then, we have supported thousands of patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families across Leeds. We provide care to people of all faiths and cultures, always with the individual at the heart of what we do.

Our care will always be needed and this year we will be looking forwards, as well as reflecting on our history.

Take a look at the history of St Gemma's through our interactive timeline.

This exhibition takes you behind the scenes with portraits and stories from 40 people as photographed by Olivia Hemingway.
