Can you support the Hospice this Ramadan?

Help us continue caring for the local community

Here at St Gemma’s Hospice, we provide the best possible care and support for local people with a life-limiting illness. We support local people, both in the Hospice and in the community, treating each person with kindness, empathy, compassion and respect.

For Ramadan this year, we are asking our local community to come together to support our vital work, caring for those in the Hospice and in the community we serve. All of our services are provided to the people of Leeds free of charge, so we rely on donations from kind supporters like you. Every donation, big or small, can make a real difference to the patients we care for and their loved ones when they need it most.

In this sacred month of Ramadan we act our duty of universal generosity by giving (Sadaqah) to charity and St Gemma’s is a very important cause to give to. I have seen the difference palliative care makes on people’s lives, in the Hospice and in the community that they live in – St Gemma’s is a local organisation supporting all people

💚 Here at St Gemma’s, we care for anyone with any life-limiting illness, not just cancer

💚 We offer flexible visiting hours for patients’ family and friends

💚 Our Spiritual Care Coordinator can support you and your family, alongside your local Imam

💚 We cater for all dietary requirements, including Halal

💚 We have a multi-faith prayer space, or patients may prefer to pray beside their loved ones in the patient rooms and we can facilitate this by providing prayer mats

This Ramadan, we hope you will kindly consider supporting your local hospice so together, we can make sure our community has the very best end of life care here in Leeds.

Thank you for your support this Ramadan and we wish you a blessed month.

Eleanor’s story

“Working in a hospice while practicing Islam has reinforced my sense of purpose, strengthened my patience and empathy, and deepened my understanding of both my faith and the diverse beliefs of others.”

A donation of any size will make a huge difference:

£15 could support funding a physiotherapy appointment to ease an outpatient’s pain and symptoms.

£25 could provide expert telephone advice and support to a patient at home.

£50 could pay for an hour of specialist end-of-life care.
