The Walls of Light are an area of tranquillity and peace, where patients, visitors, and family members can sit in quiet contemplation.
The Walls of Light are positioned along the Path of Life at St Gemma’s Hospice. They represent a celebration of life – a commemoration of the lives of those we have lost and a celebration of those special people and important events that illuminate our lives. Constructed from glass bricks, the walls allow light to pass through and illuminate the area around them.
Some bricks in the Walls of Light have been sponsored in memory of a loved one and the brick bears the name of this person. When visiting the walls, friends and relatives can remember that person and how they brought light into our lives. Others have sponsored a brick to celebrate a birth, anniversary or special occasion and some Hospice supporters have sponsored a brick bearing their own name to show their support for St Gemma’s.
Bricks are available to sponsor for £500 or £1000, depending on the location. You can choose to pay this in one lump sum or by 10 monthly donations.
