Join Our Team as a Registered Nurse
St Gemma’s Hospice is the largest hospice in Yorkshire and one of the largest in the UK. The Hospice provides expert palliative and end of life care, in a quality environment, for thousands of local people each year. It’s a prominent and respected charity at the heart of the local community with a large range of specialist services to support patients, their families and friends.
Working for St Gemma’s can offer a rewarding career in a friendly environment. Over 250 staff across a 4-acre site and 24 charity shops work together to ensure that patients and their families have the best possible experience and receive the highest quality of care.
We are seeking dynamic, forward thinking Band 5 Registered Nurses to join our In-Patient team.
This is an ideal opportunity for any nurse who is keen to shape the future of palliative and end of life care within a hospice environment. The Hospice is keen to support the development of nurses who are committed, innovative and dynamic to enable them to progress their career in palliative care. St Gemma’s is an independent Hospice having the benefit of being able to offer staff the opportunity to partake in delivery of education, clinical audit, contribution to clinical guidelines and clinical practice development and research.
If you want to work in an area where you can achieve your potential and deliver the highest quality of care we want to hear from you. At St Gemma’s we surpass national staffing recommendations with nurses on average caring for 4 patients and their families, allowing them time to care. Palliative and end of life care requires excellent nursing care and St Gemma’s support staff to achieve this.
We are currently recruiting Band 5 Registered Nurses who actively uphold nursing 6Cs. We can offer preceptorship programme, full induction, in-house training, access to degree and masters level courses, clinical supervision and opportunities to follow special interests.
Clinical staff who come to work with us directly from the NHS can retain their continuous service entitlement with regard to annual leave and sick pay. You can also continue your contributions to the NHS pension scheme. We also offer free car parking and subsidised meals.
Informal visits welcome; to arrange please contact Jayne Upperton on 0113 2185500.
