Our shops simply couldn’t be here raising funds for patient care without our volunteers

Volunteering is a great opportunity to meet new friends, have fun and learn new skills in a friendly environment. As a shop volunteer, you’d be contributing to helping St Gemma’s care for people at the most difficult time in their lives.

Whatever your skills, we have a role to suit you

Our retail volunteers sort donated items, steam clothes, identify valuable items, serve customers, drive vans and so much more.

We offer taster sessions so you can give retail volunteering a try and see if it’s for you – with no obligation to commit.

Why Volunteer?

As a St Gemma’s retail volunteer, you’ll receive:
• A dedicated supervisor who will guide and support you in your work, and who can act as a referee for future voluntary or paid positions
• Travel or lunch expenses (subject to agreed guidelines)
• Invites to volunteer thank you events
• A full induction and further information about St Gemma’s Hospice
• A monthly Volunteers’ eNews via email, with all of the latest news from across the Hospice.

“It has taken me a while to pluck up the courage to request to volunteer at my local charity shop. I am so glad I did… It is a pleasure to be part of such an important charity organisation.”
