St Gemma’s Hospice is here for the whole family to provide on-going support, delivered through our various teams across the Hospice.
Family support team
Our family support team, made up of registered social workers, counsellors and volunteers, will work with you offering practical and emotional support. We can support you face-to-face, either in the Hospice or in your own home, or speak to you by telephone.
Other services we offer
We provide bereavement support and bereavement counselling; this service is available to all families, friends and carers of patients.
We help children and young people cope with their feelings and worries when someone in their family is seriously ill or has died.
Our Carers’ Café may be beneficial to anyone looking for a safe space to meet others in a similar situation.
Spiritual Care
Whether you follow a particular faith or not, our Spiritual Care Team are available to meet with, to be with, to listen or to talk things through with patients and their families.
The Hospice didn’t just care for my mum; you cared for the whole family and we will always be grateful to your kindness and support at a very difficult time. It is very reassuring to know that your team are there for us, if and when we need some ‘moral support’ in the future.
