Celebrating the life of someone you have lost is a way to continue your relationship with them. They may not be physically with you, but through your connection and love for them they will be with you forever.
Here to support you
Whether you have recently lost a loved one, or have been bereaved long ago, St Gemma’s is always here for you. If you would like any support at this difficult time, visit our bereavement support page.
Funeral collections in lieu of flowers
One way to celebrate the life of a loved one is to ask family and friends to make a donation at their funeral service. Often people choose to make a donation to St Gemma’s Hospice in lieu of flowers.
You can request a personalised collection box and donation envelopes to hand out at the funeral.
Alternatively, you can ask family and friends to donate online via an in-memory donation link, by creating a JustGiving page or by creating a Facebook fundraiser in your loved one’s memory.
Contact the Individual Giving Team at individualgiving@st-gemma.co.uk or 0113 218 5505 for support with donations in memory of your loved one.
Create a Memory Page
Set up a Memory Page for your loved one, as a permanent digital tribute where you can share photos and videos, write memories and stories of their life, and even light virtual candles or make a donation in their memory.
Ways to remember your loved one
Remembering your loved one will be as unique and special as they were. There are many ways you can support St Gemma’s in their memory, which are outlined below. If you are inspired to celebrate your loved one in any of these ways, then thank you. Your support of St Gemma’s will help local patients and families when facing a terminal diagnosis.
Each December, the appeal provides an opportunity to dedicate a light and pay tribute to someone special.
Add a dedication to our online memory wall to share precious memories of your loved one.
Making a regular monthly donation to St Gemma’s will help cherish the memory of your loved one.
Choose a day that is significant to you and give the gift of a day of care to a patient and their family.
Dedicate a beautiful bronze leaf on the Tree of Life in our memory garden. The leaves provide a lasting tribute for those we have lost.
