Raise money at a time of celebration

We sometimes find that people would rather support St Gemma’s, in lieu of receiving personal gifts or cards at a time of celebration, such as a wedding anniversary or a special birthday. This is easy to do by asking friends, relatives and guests to make a donation to the Hospice in recognition of your special occasion.

Every gift to St Gemma’s Hospice makes a big difference, helping us to care for local patients and families.

We can supply you with personalised printed cards that include details about your occasion and how guests can donate to St Gemma’s Hospice. You can then send these cards out with your invitations. The cards give our FREEPOST address so gifts can be sent – at no cost to your guests – directly to the Hospice.

We will keep a record of all the gifts we receive on behalf of your celebration. For more details please contact Sophia at sophia.last@st-gemma.co.uk or on 0113 306 9170 with:

  • your name
  • address
  • the event or celebration it relates to
  • the date of your occasion
  • quantity of cards required

You may find the easiest way to fundraise at a time of celebration is by holding an online fundraiser and asking your friends and family to donate this way.

There are a few simple ways of doing this:

  • Share our donation page so they can donate directly via our website – just make sure you tell everyone to include your name and reason for celebrating when they fill in the donation form!

  • Set up an online giving page via Virginmoneygiving or Justgiving. You can include photos and messages to your guests on the page. Choose ‘St Gemma’s Hospice’ as the charity to benefit and all donations will come directly to us.

If you are having a party and would like to raise money on the day, we can provide you with donation collection boxes, information leaflets about the Hospice and even St Gemma’s balloons!

In addition, you may like to purchase St Gemma’s pin badges to give to your guests as favours at your party or occasion.

To arrange this, please get in contact with Sophia at sophia.last@st-gemma.co.uk and she can provide you with any fundraising materials you may want at your celebration!

“We had a great time celebrating our 50th birthdays at Horsforth Golf Club with all our family and friends and raising money for St Gemma’s by raffling off a couple of hampers and some other things kindly donated by Morrison’s. The reason we wanted to raise funds for St Gemma’s is that my Mother (Molly Teasdale) spent a lot of time at the hospice several years ago and ended up passing away there. The care she was given at St Gemma’s was excellent and in fact our whole family were very well looked after during her final days. Before she got too ill Mum used to enjoy going to the day centre and joining in with the various activities on offer. This is a small way of thanking St Gemma’s for making my Mum’s final time on earth comfortable and treating her with care and compassion and we hope it helps towards the care of other patients in the hospice.”
