The Hospice Leadership Team are responsible for ensuring that St Gemma’s delivers the best possible care to patients in Leeds. The team leads on strategy development and oversees the provision of Hospice services.
Kerry took up the post of Chief Executive of St Gemma’s Hospice on 1 December 2010.
Immediately before coming to St Gemma’s she was Chief Executive of Nova Healthcare, a company based at St James’s Hospital, in Leeds, working in partnership with the NHS to provide specialised care to both NHS and privately funded cancer patients.
From 2000 to 2008 Kerry worked at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. There she was Project Director for the £250 million cancer centre development, Bexley Wing, at St James’s Hospital. Once the project was delivered, she worked as Director of Strategy and Business Planning for the Trust.
Prior to joining the Leeds Trust, Kerry worked at the Department of Health’s Private Finance Unit for 2 years.
Kerry’s qualifications include BA in Economics and English and PG Diploma in Project Leadership. She is also a Chartered Accountant, having trained and worked at Deloitte from 1989 to 1997.
Dr Mike Stockton – Chief Medical Officer & Consultant in Palliative Medicine
Mike is a Consultant in Palliative Medicine and the Chief Medical Officer at St Gemma’s Hospice in Leeds, where he has been employed since 1998.
Mike qualified in medicine at the University of Leeds in 1988 and has trained in and around the Yorkshire region.
Over his career Mike has held the role of Training Programme Director and Regional Specialty Adviser and has established the St Gemma’s Professor of Palliative Medicine, University of Leeds, which has led to the growth of the Leeds Academic Unit of Palliative Care.
Mike has recently taken up the role of the Chair of the Leeds Palliative Care Managed Clinical Network.
Nationally, Mike is the Treasurer and an Executive Committee Member of the Association of Palliative Medicine and is part of the Palliative Care Congress (international conference) organising committee.
Mike has an interest in music (singing and guitar), football and family life.
Jason was appointed in August 2014 and is a Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA) and Chartered Company Secretary (ACIS).
Jason brings a wealth of senior management experience gained from different sectors covering Finance, Corporate Support and Operational service delivery.
Jason joined St Gemma’s from Aire Valley Homes limited where he held the role of Director of Housing responsible for delivering both support and front line services to tenants across South and South East of Leeds.
Heather McClelland is St Gemma’s Hospice Chief Nurse and her role is to support the ongoing provision of the best possible care and quality of life for local people, both at the Hospice site and in the community.
Heather has strong clinical and professional skills and a proven track record of leading, influencing and driving quality and improvement. She is a natural collaborator who seeks opportunities to deliver services in new and innovative ways whilst maintaining exceptional clinical care.
Heather is an experienced nurse with a demonstrated history in the hospital and healthcare industry. She has a particular interest in Nursing Education and is skilled in Emergency Medicine, quality improvement, workforce development and clinical governance. She has an MSc in Health Services Research from the University of Sheffield and has experience as editor for an international research journal.
