St Gemma's Day Services

Covid-19 Update

Groups and activities in St Gemma’s Day Services are currently suspended due to Covid-19, but we can support you in a different way through our Support, Therapy and Resources (STAR) team.

The STAR team can offer support in a number of ways:

  • Virtual drop-in and activity sessions via Zoom
  • Virtual Breeze Group
  • Activity packs by post
  • Jigsaw lending library
  • Telephone or video consultation support with nursing staff or support workers
  • Outpatient appointments for symptom management review
  • Home visits for patients who are unable to attend as outpatients.

If you are a palliative patient who would benefit from support through the STAR team, you can be referred by a healthcare professional, such as your GP, or ring the service for advice and support on 0113 218 5294.

Online Patient Hub

For a variety of resources that can help you improve your wellbeing and manage your symptoms at home, visit our online patient hub.

St Gemma’s Day Services, based at the Hospice, can give you extra support to manage your symptoms, gain more confidence at home and help maximise your quality of life at any stage of your illness.

The service offers support to patients and their carers in a safe and welcoming environment, through a wide range of services such as out-patient clinics, drop-in sessions and a number of symptom-management groups such as breathlessness and fatigue.

We offer a number of different services through our Day Hospice which are aimed at providing you with information and support you require to enable you to self-manage and make the most of your quality of life. Services are available for both patients and their carers. You may be referred to one of our information or assessment services, or you can attend one of our flexible drop-in days which don’t require a referral.

You can come along and enjoy the friendly and therapeutic environment; you can access creative therapy activities, massage and aromatherapy, grow plants in our glass house and enjoy our beautiful garden.

Our expert staff include specialist nurses, doctors, social workers and therapists who work closely as a multi-disciplinary team.
