A thank you and farewell from Kerry Jackson

This week, staff, volunteers, Trustees past and present, the Sisters of the Cross and Passion and many others gathered to celebrate the 14 years of incredible work of our Chief Executive Kerry Jackson. Kerry said:

“It has been the greatest honour, privilege, and pleasure to serve as Chief Executive of this outstanding Hospice for the past 14 years. Together, we have achieved so much, and I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported me throughout this incredible and rewarding journey.

To the Board of Trustees who generously dedicate their time and wisdom, our remarkable volunteers and donors who tirelessly support the Hospice, and our outstanding team of colleagues who make St Gemma’s the special place it is, thank you. It has been a privilege to work alongside each of you, and I am profoundly proud of what we’ve accomplished together.

I would especially like to express my deep gratitude to the Sisters, whose guidance has always been welcome. Their wisdom, support, and insight have always meant a lot to me both personally and professionally. I have learned so much from them and will forever be grateful for their influence.

St Gemma’s truly is a precious gem in our city, and I am honoured to have played a part in its story. Thanks to the dedication and compassion of this community, St Gemma’s stands strong and well-prepared for the future. I am excited to watch it continue to thrive in the years ahead.

In February, I am confident you will warmly welcome Laura Squire as the new Chief Executive and support her as you have supported me. In the meantime, I am proud to pass the reins to my trusted colleague, Dr Mike Stockton, who will step into the Chief Executive role on an interim basis, supported by our exceptional Hospice Leadership Team.

Thank you once again for your compassion, teamwork, and friendship. I wish you all every success and happiness in the future.”
