“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am delighted to announce the appointment of Laura Squire OBE as the new Chief Executive of St Gemma’s Hospice, starting in February 2025.
“Laura joins us from her current position as a member of the Board and Executive at the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). With a distinguished career in the civil service, Laura has forged strong partnerships across the health and care sectors, including leading policy for vaccine deployment during the pandemic. She brings a wealth of experience, a proven record of impactful leadership, and a deep commitment to our charity’s values and ambitions for expert and sustainable palliative and end of life care.
“Laura is incredibly enthusiastic about joining St Gemma’s Hospice. Having personally experienced the vital difference our Hospice makes to patients and families, she looks forward to connecting with you in the months ahead.
“Laura will be succeeding Kerry Jackson, who will step down as Chief Executive in December after 14 years of dedicated service. Kerry’s leadership has been invaluable, and we extend our deepest gratitude for her outstanding contributions to the Hospice. As we prepare for this transition, Dr Mike Stockton, Chief Medical Officer and Consultant in Palliative Medicine at St Gemma’s for over 25 years, will serve as interim Chief Executive from December until Laura is settled into her role.
“Laura’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for St Gemma’s Hospice, and we will be thrilled to welcome her as she leads us into the future.”
