I feel privileged to have the opportunity to lead St Gemma’s, an organisation I’ve admired long before joining. As I read through the history of the hospice and speak to people, I’m realising just how extraordinary this place is.
We are delighted to welcome our new Chief Executive Laura Squire to St Gemma’s Hospice.
Laura joined the team last month and brings a wealth of experience from both the healthcare and public sectors, alongside a deep personal connection to West Yorkshire, which she has called home for over two decades.

Reflecting on her new role, Laura shared:
I came across a quote from a public meeting in Leeds Town Hall just before St Gemma’s opened: ‘May those who follow in this great work be of the same calibre as the valiant women of the Order of the Cross and Passion who had the faith and courage to plant the seed.’ I found that really inspiring and I will carry it with me as we move forward into the next chapter of the Hospice’s history.
We are excited to have Laura at the helm and look forward to the leadership and vision she will bring to St Gemma’s.
