Spencer and Lewis’ story
Spencer and Lewis have been supported by the Hospice since the death of their dad, Andrew, in 2017. They were 5 and 7 at the time. Their mum, Clare said:
“St Gemma’s has been a lifeline for us as a family. We were safe knowing that Andrew was receiving amazing care but the wider team looked after me and the boys. The children’s bereavement team were exceptional, providing individual and group activities, trips away and allowing the boys to meet and spend time with others going through similar situations and to see that they weren’t the only ones and they would be ok.
“They made us all feel relaxed and I’m sure the new pavilion at the Hospice with lots more space and colour will make a really positive difference for the children into the future. Spencer and Lewis are so excited to see it being built as they spent time with the architects and gave their ideas for how it should look. To have this really tailored support has been fantastic and I’m so grateful to the whole team.”
