Claire’s story
All of our wonderful supporters have their own reasons for fundraising and the lovely Claire has shared her story about why her and her family took on our Cow and Calf challenge and what others wanting to try it should expect.
“My sister and I and our daughters have been involved in events for St Gemma’s for a number of years as our way of saying thank you for the amazing care they gave to our Dad and Auntie.
We have mainly completed the Light Up Leeds/ Midnight Walk but felt that we wanted to stand out from the crowd a little to maximise our fundraising this year and the Cow & Calf challenge really appealed (to some of our group more than others)!
Before the event, there are updates and emails that let you know what to expect. The team on the day were amazing, they even let the grandkids do the event! They were friendly, in control and gave step-by-step instructions and moral support when it was needed – no mean feat when you are hanging from a rope 65 feet in the air! With their support every member of the team completed the challenge, including the 12 year old grandson.
I’m genuinely grateful to St Gemma’s for organising the event and giving us the opportunity to raise some funds and give a little bit back to them whilst having such a great experience. Trying to persuade the family that we should do the wing walk this year!”
