Kerry took up the post of Chief Executive of St Gemma’s Hospice on 1 December 2010.
Immediately before coming to St Gemma’s she was Chief Executive of Nova Healthcare, a company based at St James’s Hospital, in Leeds, working in partnership with the NHS to provide specialised care to both NHS and privately funded cancer patients.
From 2000 to 2008 Kerry worked at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. There she was Project Director for the £250 million cancer centre development, Bexley Wing, at St James’s Hospital. Once the project was delivered, she worked as Director of Strategy and Business Planning for the Trust.
Prior to joining the Leeds Trust, Kerry worked at the Department of Health’s Private Finance Unit for 2 years.
Kerry’s qualifications include BA in Economics and English and PG Diploma in Project Leadership. She is also a Chartered Accountant, having trained and worked at Deloitte from 1989 to 1997.
Medical Director & Consultant in Palliative Medicine
Mike is a Consultant in Palliative Medicine and the Director of Medicine at St Gemma’s Hospice in Leeds, where he has been employed since 1998.
Mike qualified in medicine at the University of Leeds in 1988 and has trained in and around the Yorkshire region.
Over his career Mike has held the role of Training Programme Director and Regional Specialty Adviser and has established the St Gemma’s Professor of Palliative Medicine, University of Leeds, which has led to the growth of the Leeds Academic Unit of Palliative Care.
Mike has recently taken up the role of the Chair of the Leeds Palliative Care Managed Clinical Network.
Nationally, Mike is the Treasurer and an Executive Committee Member of the Association of Palliative Medicine and is part of the Palliative Care Congress (international conference) organising committee.
Mike has an interest in music (singing and guitar), football and family life.
Director of Income Generation
Tracy’s degree is in French and European history but her working life has been spent largely in the voluntary sector with previous roles including managing a portfolio of over 90 shops for Help the Aged.
Tracy joined St Gemma’s in 1998 as Director of Business and has had responsibility for a variety of areas but always with a primary focus on income generation. In addition Tracy currently has responsibility for communications, business planning and the Hospice’s overall strategy.
She is the regional representative for the National Association of Hospice Fundraisers and a member of Help the Hospice’s Income Generation Reference Group.
Director of Corporate Services
Jason was appointed in August 2014. A Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA) and Chartered Company Secretary (ACIS)
Jason brings a wealth of senior management experience gained from different sectors covering Finance, Corporate Support and Operational service delivery.
Jason joined St Gemma’s from Aire Valley Homes limited where he held the role of Director of Housing responsible for delivering both support and front line services to tenants across South and South East of Leeds.
Director of Nursing
Cath has been the Director of Nursing at St Gemma’s Hospice since March 2008.
Cath has been a Registered Nurse since 1992 and has specialised in cancer and palliative care nursing for the past majority of her career, working within a variety of NHS trusts and also at the Cancer Network.
Qualifications include BSc in Health Care in addition to completing Masters level modules in health informatics, leadership and service improvement. Whilst at the Hospice she has successfully completed the MA in Hospice Leadership with Lancaster University.
Cath works with other providers across the city chairing the Palliative Care Operational Group ensuring the city delivers the palliative and End of Life Care Strategy.
Cath is passionate about patient centred high quality care and is responsible for quality assurance and the patient experience at the Hospice. She is a member of the Hospice Leadership Team, is the Registered Manager and is the Accountable Officer for the Hospice. She manages Nursing and Allied Health Professionals.
