Choose a day that is significant to you and support St Gemma’s by donating to give the gift of a Day of Care to a patient and their loved ones.
Sponsoring a day will help us to provide a day of nursing and medical care for a patient, whether in our specialist In-Patient Unit, Out-Patients or in a patient’s own home supported by our Community Nurse Specialists.
When you sponsor a Day of Care, you will receive a personalised certificate. You can choose to include a photo or some words about why you have chosen to support St Gemma’s in this way. A certificate will also be displayed in the Hospice reception on your chosen day.
We request that your chosen day is at least 2 weeks following your donation or the setup of your Direct Debit so that we can ensure everything in place for the day.
Our care is based on the idea that our patients are more than their illness, and we take the time to get to know each individual in our care. Because our care is tailored to every individual, we cannot define a specific cost for each day of care we provide, but the following donation amounts could cover an average day of care for a patient:
💜 Sponsor a Day of In-Patient care with a donation of £500. This could support with everything from expert care, to pain relief and meals for a patient on one of our wards.
💜 Sponsor of Day of Community care with a donation of £250. This could enable a St Gemma’s community team member to visit a patient in their own home and provide expert care, clinical advice or support for families caring for a loved one at home.
Whether you make a one-off donation, set up a direct debit or raise the funds through an event or challenge, by sponsoring a Day of Care you will be helping to support a patient and their family, so they can concentrate on creating treasured memories.
Fran and her son generously sponsored a Day of Care in loving memory of her Dad. She chose to celebrate one of his treasured grandchildren’s birthday.
“In total Dad spent 42 days as an In-Patient at St Gemma’s, so if we could provide just one day of that to another family, experiencing the most difficult time of their lives, this would bring us huge comfort.” Fran
