10 ways you can support St Gemma’s Hospice on Giving Tuesday
The past 18 months have been challenging for St Gemma’s but we have continued to support patients and families who are facing the toughest of times. We can only provide vital end of life and palliative care because of all of the different ways the local community supports us.
This Giving Tuesday we want to, first of all, say a huge thank you to all of our amazing supporters. Secondly, if you’d like to help St Gemma’s today, we’re sharing 10 different ways you can support us. Whether it’s making a small donation online or buying a jumper from one of our shops, it all adds up and means we can continue to help patients and their families.
1. Donate online
To make a one-off monetary donation to support the work of the Hospice, the easiest way is to fill in our online donation form. It’s a quick, secure way to donate to our charity on Giving Tuesday.
You can find the form on our website – https://www.st-gemma.co.uk/online-donation-form
2. Tackle a challenge
Our events calendar is jam-packed with challenges that you can take on with friends, family or colleagues. Why not try something daring like a skydive or turn your weekly 5k into a 10k race and run for #TeamGemmas? You can also organise your own event or challenge, like running laps around your garden or shaving your head. Get creative and we’ll send you a fundraising pack to help you!

3. Find something unique in our shops
Our 23 charity shops across Leeds and our online shops are filled with unique dresses, jumpers, jeans and much more. And it’s not just clothes you can get for a bargain; you can buy toys, games, accessories, books and homeware and even preloved furniture.
Every item you buy adds to our total and supports various services from our Day Service to our Young People’s Service that supports bereaved children.
4. Play the Local Hospice Lottery
Playing the Local Hospice Lottery is an easy and fun way to support us. Over the last 12 months, Local Hospice Lottery members who play in support of St Gemma’s have raised more than £190,000 for our vital care. Last month, one of our lucky supporters won the £2,000 grand prize!

5. Raise money at a time of celebration
Got a special occasion like a birthday or wedding anniversary coming up? Why not ask for a donation in lieu of presents. There are loads of ways you can do this, by asking in your party invitations or setting up a Facebook birthday fundraiser.
Find out more about how we can help with this on our website – https://www.st-gemma.co.uk/occasions
6. Make a gift towards our Christmas Appeal
St Gemma’s cared for Josephine’s husband Graham over the festive period in 2013. This year Josie wanted to share her story for our Christmas Appeal to highlight the importance of hospice care at Christmas.
If you’d like to make a gift to help local people facing life-limiting illnesses this Christmas please visit https://www.st-gemma.co.uk/appeal
7. Fundraise at work
Round up your colleagues and do good while you’re at work. We have loads of ways you can get your company involved in fundraising for St Gemma’s. You can sign up for payroll giving, where you give a small amount from your paycheck each month, or you can partner with us and start initiatives like making donations for every new customer or product sold.

8. Shop with AmazonSmile
If you’re a regular Amazon shopper, you can raise money for St Gemma’s by shopping through AmazonSmile instead. Just select St Gemma’s Hospice as your charity of choice and Amazon will donate 0.5% of the purchase price to the Hospice at no cost to you.

9. Become a volunteer
Giving your time supports us too. We have lots of opportunities for you to volunteer with us in our shops, warehouse and at our events.
